The San Sebastián Baroque Ensemble was founded in 1974 by a small group of music lovers with the aim of promoting classical music, particularly that of the Baroque period.
During its fifty years of uninterrupted activity, many musicians have played in its orchestra. At its founding, the ensemble director was Mr.Tomás Aragüés and since 2008, Mr. Sergio Zapirain has donducted the ensemble.
The ensemble has performed in numerous concerts, including events like the San Sebastián Musical Fortnight, the Aita Donostia music week, the Chamber Music Cycle in Mutriku, the Bach Festival in Ordizia, the Ancient Music Festival in Zumarraga, the Nájera Festivals, Ordizia’s Musikaldia, the Spring Music Cycle in Azkoitia, Igartza Festival in Beasain and Barroko Aire in Ordizia.
